Microdermabrasion
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation, a progressive non-invasive treatment that propels natural mineral crystals onto the surface of the skin and vacuums dead skin and impurities. It means the process of scraping away top layer of the skin. This action helps to stimulate microcirculation, increasing the blood supply to regenerate the skin. It also stimulates formation of new collagen and elastin to improve skin texture and elasticity.
This process reveals newer, healthier, younger skin. The procedure is painless, with literally no recovery time for most people. Microdermabrasion has been successful in dramatically reducing the appearance of small scars, large pores, hyper pigmented spots, fine lines, stretch marks, wrinkles, comedones. Due to its ability to enhance the growth of collagen and elastin the appearance of the skin can take on a much lighter, firmer appearance.
How Does Microdermabrasion work?
Microdermabrasion works in two ways:
- Correction – the speed of the action that gently removes the surface layers of the skin, allowing smoother, fresher skin to emerge;
- Stimulation – the vacuum action helps to stimulate microcirculation, increasing the blood supply that provides nutrients needed for skin regeneration.
The skin is cleansed before and after the procedure. Due to the unavoidable spread of crystals in the hair and possibly the clothes, it is strongly recommended that the client shower before retiring that evening.
While these crystals are not a known allergen, the possibility of an irritation always exists due to the individuality of each client.
The resurfacing treatment is executed slowly and progressively, removing only superficial layers of the epidermis to reveal a youthful complexion and glow. A skin therapist has total control and works under The Strictest Hygiene Standards, using sterile, disposable treatment nozzles to ensure patient’s safety. After treatment a patient can resume his normal activities almost immediately.
Because the skin, after the treatment, has no natural protection, it is necessary to use neutral PH moisturizers and to wear a protective sun screen. Failure to wear sun screen can result in a severe sunburn on your face, and skin damage could occur.
For most skin disorders, a minimum of six treatments is recommended. Results can be seen in both the texture and the appearance of the skin after one session, but with maintenance sessions, will result in better skin quality and may postpone the first lifting treatments for some years.
Microdermabrasion can combine with other anti-aging treatments, and it can be performed on the any parts of the body if necessity.
It is necessary to use moisturizers according to your skin type and to wear a protective sun screen.
