CHEMICAL PEELS

CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peels are a popular cosmetic procedure for rejuvenation skin  and slowing the effects of the aging process. Chemical peels are quick, simple, safe, and non-invasive procedures with great gradual results and minimal downtime. Chemical peels are an excellent treatment choice for reducing the appearance of skin agingacnescarsSun spotsbrown spots , Wrinkles, rosacea, facial dermatitis, and dry skin. Despite chemical peels varying uses, most peels work the same way: they remove the skin’s outermost layers to stimulate cell renewal and cell turnover resulting in reducing the appearance of skin abnormalities and revealing the healthy and smooth skin below.

Why do We Need Chemical Peels

Desquamation (“detaching”) is when hardened, dehydrated surface skin cells are detached from the skin and replaced by new ones (cell turnover).  Because the human skin produces over 36 million skin cells per day, not all dulling skin cells fall off and desquamation, also, cell turnover slows down, and congestion takes over. The result is dry, dull-looking skin.

Chemical peels are one of the most effective ways to address these changes. For optimal results, chemical peels should be strong enough to accelerate cell turnover but not so powerful as to induce severe skin inflammation.

Since every individual’s skin is different, the best solution is to give them completely customized chemical peels which are achieved in the Pro-Power Peel collection. This chemical peel is the strongest and fastest chemical peel yet, covering all client’s skin concerns and helping them to achieve their healthiest-looking skin ever.

Here at Nell Laser Clinic, our multi-phases approach to chemical peels works with the skin, not against it.

Depending on your skin type and concerns, chemical peels are classified into four categories, based on penetration depth and effect on the skin: very superficial peels, superficial peels, Medium- depth peels, and deep peels.

During the chemical peel solution application procedure, most patients experience a warm stinging sensation that may last about five to ten minutes.

chemical peel solution causes the top layers of skin to peel off and allows new skin to regenerate. The new healthy skin cells are smoother and more even in color.

Results of chemical peels may also be much improved by incorporating laser rejuvenations and/or micro-needling.

Nell Laser Clinic offers various types of chemical peels for the treatment of scars and skin rejuvenation.

Chemical Peels Toronto

Professional chemical peels vs, at-home peels

Chemical peels designed to be applied by Professional Skin therapists- like Pro-power peel tend to be more concentrated and customized to deliver more dramatic results. These formulas are usually not available to clients for self-application.

Skin exfoliation and peels designed to be used by clients at home tend to be lighter in nature. They are ideal for quick, easy removal of the dulling surface cells, as well as building the skin’s tolerance for stronger professional peels and maintaining results in between professional treatments.

There are many kinds of chemical peels available at clinics. At Nell Clinic we use different safe and professional chemical peels from Dermalogica which is approved by Health Canada.

Exfoliant Accelerator 35

It includes Lactic Acid (AHA), Salicylic Acid (BHA), and protease enzyme.  Lactic Acid is an alpha Hydroxy Acid, that normalizes cell turnover and cell cohesion; while preventing hyperpigmentation or melanin formation. The skin’s barrier becomes more resilient because collagen and glycosaminoglycans synthesis is improved and resulting in moisture preservation.

Salicylic Acid (BHA), a Beta Hydroxy Acid, increases desquamation; which eliminates damaged and contaminated cells that carry pollutants and micro-organisms from the environment. As we age, desquamation and cell turnover slow down, making chemical peels and exfoliants critical to removing the accumulation of cells that give a dry, dull appearance to the skin.                          Enzymes like protease also help to shed dead skin cells.

All chemical peels and exfoliants that we use at Nell Laser Clinic are PH balanced, therefore, do not strip skin of essential moisture and leave skin feeling and looking much smoother and clear.
